Odlum Brown Vancouver Open, July 30 - August 7
They all came to win.

Photo 1: Dudi Sela of Israel, left, winner of the US$14,400 men's top prize, and Paul Baccanello of Australia, the runner up.

Photo 2: Czech Republic's Tomas Cakl was eliminated by American Cecil Mamit, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, in the first round.

Photo 3: Graeme Kassautzki of Vancouver, middle, the winner of Stanley Park Open, was the only local player who did manage to win a round in the qualifying draw.

Photo 4: Raphael Durek of Australia reached the second round before bowing out to the eventual champion, Sela, 6-1, 6-3.

Photo 5: Fourteen-year-old Sharon Fichman, the youngest Fed Cup member of Tennis Canada, lost in the first round but showed considerable talent.

Photo 6: Nicolas Todero of Argentina beat Rayen Newport of USA in the second round, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5. Newport had ousted second seed American Michael Gambill earlier. Todero was eliminated by Eric Taino in the quarter-finals.

Thanks to many volunteers who provided housing for the players. Click to see Ashley Fisher, from winning Men's Doubles team with Peter Walsh who played host to Fisher during the tournament. Click as well to see Paul Baccanello, the runner-up in Men's Singles with Steve Maloon who provided the Australian player with a roof over his head while he was in town.
