BC Junior Indoor Provincial Championships 2010
The first Junior Provincial Indoor Championships held March 5 - 7 at Peoples Court Tennis Club, Jericho Tennis Club, North Shore Winter Club, Town & Country Tennis Club and Vancouver Lawn Tennis Club.

Above, meet the two dominating players in their own age categories: Benjamin Sigouin and Alexis Prokopuik.  Ten-year-old Benjamin was allowed to play, and seeded third, in the Boys' 14 where he reached  the semis.  Benjamin was fresh coming back from France where he reached the finals of the Auray Super 12, an international tournament with 64 draws.   As for Alexis, she beat Ivana Erdevicki in the Girls' 14 final, 6-0, 6-0!

Photo 1:  Sam Gouneili, left, and 9-year-old Andre Sobati.   Although Andre has lost twice in the past three months to Sam, this time around 7-5, 6-0, in the second round of Boys' 12, he has the potential to be a great player.  A player to watch, Tennis BC director of high performance, Luke O'Loughlin!   As for Sam, he reached the Boys'12 semis, where he lost to Neel Phaterpekar.

Photo 2: Harjit Gosal, left, and Madison Shoemaker. Harjit beat Madison in a very close match, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, to win the Girls' 18 title.

Photo 7: Tim Portnov serving to Daniel Raw in the Boys' 14 final. These top two players are always pushing each other. The winner this time was Tim, beating Daniel 6-4, 7-5.

Photo 8: Here they are, the17-year-old Ratan Gill and 15-year-old Riaan Du Toit playing each other just as they do in practice sessions with Josef Brabenec.   Riaan,  playing up one category,  lost in the Boys' 18 semis to  Ratan, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

Photo 9: Distraction!  Shouldn't these kids have been watching some of tennis matches instead of playing electronic games?  A prize to the tennis coach who asks them to put the games away.
