BC Senior Provincial Championships
Richmond Country Club,
above, 2007 host of the BC Seniors Provincial Championships, is a haven
for both tennis players and golfers. The championship tennis
event, June 3-10, attracted 232 players competing in 33 categories.
Photo 1: Glenn Richards and Sam Gouneili. Sam was amazed and inspired by how the seniors played the game. Glenn, the top seed in Men's 40 Singles and Doubles, had to pull out of both finals due to injury, giving Trevor Richards the Men's 40 Singles title and Brennan / Wong the Doubles title. Zdeno Rusnak was Glenn's doubles partner.
Photo 2: Fabio Walker, the Richmond club's head tennis pro, was committed to ensuring that the tournament proceeded smoothly.
Photo 3: Paul Shellard, left, and Steven Yesowick. Paul and his partner Doug Holman lost in the Men's 50 Doubles final to Bob Bardsley and Russ Hartley, 6-3, 6-1. As in the Vancouver Lawn Masters Tournament two months ago, Russ beat Steven in the Men's 50 Singles final, this time 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, to capture the title.

Photo 5: George Lea lost to Ken McBean, 6-4, 7-6, in the Men's 55 Singles finals, in a close match. George teamed up with Joe Forrayi to beat Bruce Fraser and Michael Koren, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, to win the Men's 55 Doubles.
