Vasek Pospisil put Canada in World Group
September 18, 2011 - Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, BC, won his match against Israel's Amir Weintraub, 6-2, 7-6, 6-4, in the city of Ramat Hasharon near Tel Aviv, sending Canada into the elite Davis Cup World Group for the first time since 2004.

The 21-year-old Vasek won Canada's singles opener -- a five-hour marathon against Dudi Sela -- and took the doubles match with Toronto veteran Daniel Nestor earlier.

It was the most important tie the Canadian Davis Cup team has played in years.

Recovering Milos Raonic lost to Amir Weintraub, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, 6-1.  Milos was playing his first match in three months after injuring his hip in June.  Israel's Dudi Sela defeated Peter Polansky, who was playing in place of Milos Raonic, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
