Burnaby Open - 2006
A week of surprises, upsets and revenge in the Burnaby Open this year, July 1-9, with 406 players competing in the event.

Daniel Chu, above, surprised everyone by defeating Graeme Kassautzki, the winner of the 2005 Stanley Park Open, 6-3, 7-5, in the final.

Then, in the men's doubles, Luigi Albarracin and Daniel Jaworski upset Tony Macken and Jerry Turek, top photo on the left, in the second round. Macken and Turek were winners of the of the 2005 Stanley Park Open Doubles Event and the last two tournaments of the Odlum Brown Summer Series. Graeme Kassautzki and Kamil Pajkowski teamed up to win the Men's Doubles title in the end.

And, finally, it was Stefi Gjine, third photo on the left, who got her revenge from the last tournament in Richmond, two weeks ago, by beating Rebecca Marino in straight sets, to win the Women's Singles title.
