Van Lawn Masters Indoor Championships - April 16-25, 2010
Jerry Turek , above right, beat Max Brown, left, in a very close match, 7-6, 7-6, to win the final in the Men's 35 singles. Jerry, a doubles specialist, also won the Men's 35 Doubles, with Julien Heine. This year's event, a warm-up for the Senior Nationals in Calgary the following week, attracted a record number of 391 players.

Photo 2: Steven Yesowick, left, and Doug Holman. Steven made quick work of Doug in the Men's 55 semis, beating him 6-1, 6-1, but he had to retire against  Bill Purcell in the finals with back injury.

Photo 3: Joachim Nierfeld with his wife Kathleen and 2-year-old son, Nicholas.  Joachim, last year's winner of the Men's 40 Singles, did not play singles this year, but entered the Men's 35 Doubles with Dave Goldsmith.  They lost in the final to Julien Heine and Jerry Turek, 6-3, 6-3.

Photo 4: Russ Hartley, the winner of last year's Men's 50 Singles, defended his title by beating Robert Exell, in the final, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.

Photo 5: Jandi Fraser, left, and  Eileen Clark.   Jandi beat Marilyn Williams, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, to win the Women's 60 Singles, and Eileen defeated Blanche Cyr, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 in the Women's 55 Singles to capture the title.

Photo 6: Ken Dahl, left,  and Greg Harrop. They beat Michael Koren and John Harvey , 6-3, 6-0, to win the Men's 55 Doubles.

Photo 7: Angela Xu gave it her best but was over-powered by Cora Wills in the final of Women's 50 Singles.  Angela lost 1-6, 2-6.

Photo 8: Glenn Richards, left, and Don McCormick.  Glenn beat Tim Shoveller in the Men's 45 Singles final, 6-2, 6-2 and Don beat Eric Bojesen in the Men's 65 Singles, 6-3, 6-2 to capture the title.

Photo 9: Bob Bardsley, left, and Robert Exell.   Bob defeated John Wade in the Men's 60 Singles final, 6-1, 6-2.

Photo 10: Max Brown, left, and Sarah Kadi at the players' reception. Max is the head pro at the Steve Nash Sports Club in Richmond.  Sarah lost in the Women's 30 Doubles semis.

Stephen Kimoff, the winner of last two years' of the Men's 45 Singles, did not show up to play this year.  This year we had a lot of injured players, including George Lea who had to withdraw with right shoulder injury, in the Men's 55.
