BC Senior Provincial Championships - 2010
Above, from left to right: Jerry Turek, Julien Heine and Russ Hartley in the BC Seniors Tournament June 5 to13 at the Jericho Tennis Club.

Photo 1 (left):  Joachim Nierfeld is returning the ball to Hannes Blum in the Men's 40 Singles final.  Joachim fought back to beat Hannes, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Photo 2: Katrine Volynsky and Ernesto Ponce.   Ernesto beat Max Brown in the Men's 35 semis, 6-0, 6-2, and Jerry Turek in the final, 6-1, 6-3, to claim the title. He is the man to beat.

Photo 3: Ken Dahl, left, and Bruce Fraser.  Kenny with Greg Harrop beat Bruce and his partner, Tom Kordyback, 6-1, 6-2, in the Men's 55 Doubles semis.  Dahl and Harrop went on to win the doubles title, defeating Bruce Gandossi and John Harvey in the final, 6-4, 6-4.  Ken Dahl also won the Men's 65 Singles, beating Eric Bojesen in the final, 6-2, 6-4.

Photo 4: North Shore Winter Club coach, Jane Hernandez, left, and Ou Zhang. We all have seen Ou Zhang as a tournament referee,  you know that she is also a tournament player?  She reached the final of the Women's 45 Doubles.

Photo 5: John Wade, left, and his doubles partner, Gary Gilraine.  They had a good run in the Men's 60 Doubles, until John rolled over his ankle in the semis.  John, a new man in town from Australia, also had to pull out of the Men's 60 Singles final against  the defending champion Bob Bardsley.

Photo 6: Kateryna Filyus, left, and Margit Aardmaa.  Kateryna lost to Shelley Roxburgh 6-0, 6-2,  in the Women's 40 semis. As for Margit, she outlasted Shiera Stuart 7-6, 6-3, in the Women's 35, to defend her title.

Photo 7: Event coordinator Christine Hajsan of Tennis BC, left, and Jeff Carrie of BMO Nesbitt Burns at the players' reception.

Photo 8: Bob Exell, left, and Ken McBean.  Bob can't break the jinx as he keeps losing in the finals, this time in the Men's 50 Singles to Russ Hartley.    Ken, the winner of the last year's Men's 55 Singles, lost in the semis to John Harvey, the eventual winner, 6-4, 6-3.

Photo 9: Jamie Picken, left, and Jonathan Dewsbury were busy raising money for the juniors.

Photo 10: Ken Coady, left, and Mamood Gouneili of BCTennis.com.  Ken is a very unusual player. He hits every ball with two hands: backhand, forehand and even the serve!
