BC Junior Provincial Championships 2010
Above are three of the winners of the Junior Provincial Championships, held June 30 - July 4 at the Jericho Tennis Club.  From left to right: Alejandra Enderica (Girls' 18), Filip Peliwo (Boys' 18) and Alexis Prokopuik (Girls' 14).

Photo 1:  Sixteen-year-old Filip Peliwo and his mom, Monika. North Vancouver's Filip is a product of the Canadian National Training Center in Montreal. He returned home to play  a few tournaments, including the ITF, Stanley Park and possibly the Vancouver Open.   Filip beat Ratan Gill in the Boys' 18 single, 6-2, 6-1.

Photo 2: The Boys' 14 winners and runners-up and Tennis BC director of high performance Luke O'Loughlin. From left to right: Tejas Phaterpekar, Eric Fought, Mark Nguyen and Daniel Raw.  Daniel and Mark beat Tejas and Eric  in the doubles final, 6-4, 6-0.  Daniel also won the Boys' 14 singles by overcoming Mark in the final, 6-3, 6-3.

Photo 3: The winners of the Players' Sportsmanship Award, Michael Bitcon, left, with his mom, and Harjit Gosal.  Unseeded Michael had to beat third-seeded Tejas Phaterpekar , fifth-seeded Adrian Chiu and fourth-seeded Eric Fought to reach 3rd place in the Boys' 14 singles. Good job Michael. As for Harjit, she lost in the Girls' 18 final to Alejandra Enderica, 6-3, 6-2.

Photo 4: The Boys' 12, from left to right: Sam Gouneili, Jack Karp, Neel Phaterpekar and Kiran Phaterpekar.   Sam and Jack defeated the Phaterpekar brothers, 6-3, 6-2 to capture the doubles title.  In the Boys' 12 singles, Sam beat Kiran in the quarters but lost to Neel in the semis. Neel went on to sweep aside Aaron Chiu, 6-1, 6-2 in the final, while Jack beat Sash Stolba, 8-5 to win the consolations.

Photo 5: Todd Fought winner of the Boys' 16.  Todd overcome Stas Pakhomov, 6-4, 6-2, in the final.

Photo 6: The Girls' 14 and Lois Ker.  From left to right: Mackenzie Campbell, Stacey Fung, Alexis Prokopuik and Arisha Ladhani.  Mackenzie and Stacey beat Alexis Prokopuik and Arisha Ladhani in a close match, 2-6, 6-4, 12-10 to claim the Girls' 14 doubles.  In the Girls' 14 single final, Alexis overcame her doubles partner, Arisha, 6-1, 6-2.  Ivana Erdevicki beat Stacey, 6-0, 6-3, for the third place.
 
Photo 7: Kari Gunton, left, and Saroop Dhatt.  Saroop, the defending champion,  defeated Kari, 6-3, 6-1, to win the Girls' 16 single.

Photo 8: Riaan Du Toit is another talented sixteen-year-old player who played in the Boys' 18 and lost in the semis to the eventual winner Filip Pellow, 6-3, 7-6. Riaan beat Justin Guay, 6-3, 6-1 to take the third place.

Photo 10: Michelle Lim, left, outlasted Lauren Li, 7-6, 4-6, 10-6, to capture the Girls' 10 singles.

In the Boys' 10 Singles, Stefan Mitrovic d. Michael Chu 7-5, 7-6.  In the Girls' 12 Singles, Rosie Johanson d. Andrea Gu, 6-2, 6-3.
