BC Junior Provincial Championships 2009
Above are the winners of the Junior Provincial Championships, held June 26 - July 1 at the Jericho Tennis Club.  From left to right: Riaan Du Toit (Boys' 16), Alexis Prokopuik (Girls' 14) and Benjamin Sigouin (Boys' 12).   Lower half, from left to right: Saroop Dhatt (Girls' 14), Isaac Davies (Boys' 10) and Stacey Fung (Girls' 14).

Photo 1:  Eight-year-old Andre Sobati, left, and 7-year-old Tommy Rieder were the youngest players in their categories.  Andre played in the Boys' 12 and Tommy in the Boys' 10.

Photo 2: Tim Portnov with his parents, Irina and Evgueni.  Tim beat Eric Fought, 6-1, 6-2, to win the Boys' 14 Singles.

Photo 3: Top seed Tracy Dong had to withdraw in the semis in the Girls' 14 to play in the ITF event.  Fourteen-year-old Tracy is among the top 10 women players in BC.

Photo 4: The Sigouin's  family are watching their son Benjamin playing in the Boys' 12 final. Benjamin beat Kyryll Kryvchun, 6-0, 6-3, to capture the title.

Photo 6: Meet the Prokopuik family.  From left to right, Lana, Alexis, Karlos and Carson.  Alexis beat Latonia Lam, 6-0, 6-2, to win the Girls' 14. She plays many tournaments in the U.S. these days.

Photo 7: Andre and Riaan Du Toit.  Riaan beat Matthew Herron, 6-1, 6-3, to win the Boys' 16 event.  He was also playing in the Burnaby Open, NTRP Men's 5.0 division, where he lost to Nadeem Kassam in the quarters.

Photo 8: Three U14 players, Mark Nguyen, Patrick Hall and Tim Portnov.
